Founders HallHow does housing work? : All Precollege students living on campus will be housed in Founders Hall.

What is Founders Hall?: NYU’s newest residence hall, Founders Hall is a co-ed, traditional style dorm. Combining the beautiful historical facade of Old St. Ann’s Church with brand new ecologically sustainable infrastructure,  Founders is a 26 floor building with a spacious outdoor courtyard; two TV lounges; one study lounge with computers; wifi access throughout the lobby and lounges; recycling/trash rooms on every floor; and a laundry room.  Each room has its own bathroom, and students are responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of their own space.  Students will also need to bring their own linens–extra-long twin sheets, blankets, and towels.  Sets of linens are available for sale online from the vendor College Ave, or students can purchase their own separately.

Who will I live with?: Precollege students will share a room with assigned roommates. Please note that we are unable to accommodate roommate requests.

Where is it located?: Founders Hall is conveniently located within minutes of both Union Square and Washington Square Park. Students will be just a short walk away from both NYU’s main campus as well as the vibrant Union Square Park (home of one of NYC’s best Greenmarkets and a major subway hub).

What will it be like?: It will be awesome! With a gorgeous new building, tons of new friends, and a great location between two great parks (Union Square & Washington Square), NYU housing ensures that NYC is your oyster while you’re here.

What if I still have questions?:  Further information about summer housing is available online.  Or, contact us.

How does NYU dining work?: Your NYUCard acts as your dining card. Students living on campus are automatically signed up for a 10-meal/week meal plan. Plans include a set number of meals and dining dollars per week. If you would like to increase your meal plan to one that provides more than 10 meals/week, you may do so by visiting the summer dining website. You may not, however, have a meal plan that is less than 10 meals/week. There is a lot of flexibility in dining; students may get meals to-go, enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet, get a Starbucks coffee on the run, or use dining dollars to buy food and snacks during off-hours.

Where will I eat?: Precollege students will have access to a variety of dining options, ranging from traditional cafeteria-style dining halls (like The Market Place at Kimmel and Weinstein Passport Dining)  to coffee shops and cafes (like Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts).

What will I eat?: NYU Dining Services offers a plethora of food choices, with many different styles of food available, including gluten-free, vegan, and Kosher options.

When will I eat?: Dining locations are open every day at various times. For information about specific location hours, check the hours of operation online. (Note: Precollege takes place during Summer Session II.)

Are meal plans available to commuter students? Yes, indeed!  As a commuter student, you can sign up for any of the available meal plans by contacting NYU Summer Housing at Information is online.

Can I change my meal plan?  Yes, you can.  Residential students are required to have at least 10 meals/week ($166/week), but if you wish to upgrade your plan, you may do so by contacting NYU Summer Housing at Information is online.  Larger meal plans available to residential students are:

12 meals/week (with $30 Dining Dollars): $184/week
17 meals/week (with $30 Dining Dollars/week): $235/week
21 meals/week (with $30 Dining Dollars/week): $263/week
